Brida by Paulo Coelho
I finished reading this book on Saturday? or Sunday I'm not a hundred percent sure. I had about a quarter left of the book and I very into it and decided that no matter what I would finish it on that day. I had to know the ending just had to.
So I sat on my couch and read for x amount that time. I ignored my computer, the tv, lunch, I tried to ignore the dog, and asked my son to just give me 15 more minutes.
Then I finished the book and never have I been more disapointed. Why? I can't point out exactly why, but it felt redundant towards the end, I started getting bored with some of the long...ramblings. I even skimmed through parts that I then re read in case I missed something.
I couldn't believe that was the ending. That was it. I actually would have rather not finished the book or I don't know take longer.
I read "The Alchemist" and it was a chore, I struggled to finish the book, but the ending completely made up for it. The ending was amazing and I recommend that book all the time. Even people who tell me they tried reading the book and got bored. I tell them keep reading it I promise the ending is worth it. So I feel a bit let down by Brida.
Did anyone else read Brida? How did you feel with the ending? Did I miss something big?
Was all that talk about your other part for nothing? I'm still confused about Brida's boyfriend was he also her other part or just someone she loved?
As for anyone considering this book, read "Victoria decides to Die" first. I just think that after reading that book you are willing to give other books by Paulo a chance, were as if I had read "Brida" first I probably wouldn't read another Paulo book and I would have missed out at other great novels.
