Norbert, the Dragon.

Yesterday on one of the knitting communities someone posted Norberta. They had finished an awesome looking Dragon the original pattern and Norberta is here

Mine is Norbert, Norberta cousin, because his tail is too short and his eyes are too small.

Any way when I seen Norberta I decided I would knit one my self. It was to me a Marathon knit I started a little after Andres left to school and finished last night aroun 11pm. I didn't just knit all day, I cleaned the house, cooked, did laundry went to the store.

But still it was a lot of knitting. I've got my left hand middle finger swollen and bruised!! my right hand pinky is also swollen and my knuckles and wrist hurt.

oh poor me *sarcasm*

I joined a knitting community here on lj. I'm tired of reading post about ppl complaining someone asked them to knit something.

How do you deal? You ignore them! or you say "Buy the yarn" or "Hell no"

I have never knit anything for myself, I don't see the fun in it. I like surprising ppl with something I made for them. If a co-worker(hey once upon a time I worked) says "Oh I'd like my secret santa to bring me a scarf like the one you worked on" You don't stress over how to get it done in a week or rant about how insensitive they are at hinting something like that and how they don't know the time and effort it takes and blah, blah, blah. I would be flattered she liked what I was knitting. I'd tell her not to hold her breath on it or maybe even say "get the yarn if I have a chance I'll do it"

They bitch and moan about it constantly, they make tables on how much a pair of socks cost (yarn price, hours of labor, etc) bring them up to like $200 a pair.

I don't know maybe I'm weird, but if someone tells me I'll pay you to knit me a pair of socks, I'd have them buy the yarn and maybe something for my time, but odds are that when they see the price of baby alpaca they will give up. I don't know really I like knitting for others and when asked to I either outright say no or tell them that if I get a chance, I don't stress or feel I have to knit it for them.
